Date: 28th May, 2009. Narasipuram, Vaidehi Falls, Coimbatore. National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore conducted a week long NSS camp near Narasipuram, Coimbatore. As a part of Camp an awareness on nature and Eco-Trek was taken up by students along with OSAI members. OSAI members gave a talk on Forests of Coimbatore, Water, and Elephants. Eco observationWe found a big site about 2 acres, where soil was removed for constructing road and bridges. It was shocking to find this near the forest boundary and a water stream. We found and collected a lot of litter, especially plastic waste near the falls and on the way to waterfalls. We also found a snake among the dry leaves, lot of Mud-puddling (gathering liquid nutrients) butterflies, and elephant dung in many places. The list of butterflies we spotted is given below
