Wildlife Rescue

OSAI is involved with rescue operations of wild animals and birds. We have rescued birds from sellers on streets, treated the birds, fed the birds and let them into the nearby forest with the help of forest department of Tamil Nadu. Our vigilance team alerts the forest department and works side by side to nab the criminals who sell wildlife.

We have rescued numerous birds such as munias, parakeets, pigeons, owls, raptors and reptiles. Also we help the forest department in rescuing wild animals that stray outside the forest boundary and injured wildlife.

What is a wetland?
According to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands;
“Wetlands are areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which at low tide does not exceed six metres."
